Hot on the heels of Peter Pilotto’s spring prints yesterday comes today’s outfit post showing Alice Yim’s Raina dress. One of the few designers I take a break from my monochromatic norm for, Yim’s Raina dress (featured before on the blog in කළු, image below) also comes in a delicate dragonfly print, a theme running through her spring collection this year.
The Raina dress is a beautifully classic design in the onyx (කළු) colour yet the print version transports the dress into the romantic and ethereal category. This is a perfect dress for the end of summer – the last rays of warmth, the last crisp but sunny evenings outside…
As we move towards autumn, Alice Yim’s collection for winter 2012/13 provides some good transitional options. A palette of neutral tones, rusty browns, navy and black is broken up by the melancholia print – circular swirls set amongst a fabric dreamscape. (Click on the image below to enlarge.) My favourite pieces are the Pia wool and leather vest සහ Lucia blouse – a long-sleeved silk Georgette top with lace shoulders.

A high quality collection of leather, wool and lace with masculine overtones – I’m ready to step out of silky Raina and into autumn textures already. Another lovely collection from Alice Yim NYC.
